LaVa Camp

“F*** it. Let’s do it.” These were the fateful words that spurred the movement now known as LaVa Camp.  And here’s the story.  The man who would come to call himself Rhythmic first approached his long-time friend, who the world would come to know as Jimmie Doughleone.  Disappointed with the downward, monotonous spiral the Hip Hop industry had been moving in, Rhythmic was determined to make a change.  “I’m making beats. I’m starting a group.  You wanna write?”  For Doughleone’s answer, refer to line one.

But first, they needed to choose a name for the group and after countless tries and denies, they finally came to an agreement.  The duo would be called S.Y.N.S., a home-hitting acronym for Somethin’ Ya Never Seen.  Rhythmic then decided on a name for his production company and independent label, using a simple equation--Louisiana (La), where he had been born and raised, plus Virginia (Va), where he had settled and created many life-time relationships, together added up to equal LaVa Camp.  Simply magic!
They started off slowly, with Rhythmic producing, writing, and engineering, and Jimmie writing.  Enter Kev-E-Kev, veteran rhyme spitter and confidant.  Rhythm’ consulted with Dough’, who approved, and an invitation was extended and accepted.  Nothing could have prepared any of them for the domino effect that would transpire from the momentous trip that Kev would make to New Jersey to promote some of his work.

It had to have been destiny, because by pure chance, he happened to meet independent film company, Everythang Green’s owner, producer and director, Antonio “Bink” Younger, who was at the time working on the street epic, “Cash Rules.”  Kev auditioned a few of his tracks, and thoroughly impressed, Bink asked him to write what would become the theme song for, not only his movie, but his company entirely.  “Everythang Green,” produced by Jimmie Doughleone and engineered by Rhythmic, was an instant hit.  Bink went on to commission LaVa to feature on the majority of ‘Cash Rules’ score and soundtrack, ranging from complete tracks to instrumentals, while giving them a much-deserved chance to shine.  LaVa Camp has continued making power moves and, alongside Bink, whom they officially asked to be their manager, have even branched off into some acting, featuring in his latest independent film, ‘Don’t Blink,’ which also stars Kev-E-Kev.  Kev-E-Kev’s debut album, “It’s Time” and S.Y..N.S.’ album, “The W.A.R.” (The World Aint Ready) are both slated to release in 2009, and are sure to be the first of many Hip Hop classics to come from the depths of of LaVa.
